SeaView Cruises' latest round-up of cruise snippets features items from Fred Olsen Cruises, P&O Cruises, Princess Cruises and Cunard.

More than 100 guests on Balmoral and Braemar got more than they bargained for when the two ships recently docked alongside each other in Fred Olsen’s historic home city of Oslo, Norway.

They were the first to experience an exhilarating ride on the ships’ brand new Rigid Inflatable Boats, above, and were also treated to a first-ever visit to the Olsen family estate at Hvitsten, located on atmospheric Oslofjord.
The high-speed RIBs have been introduced to meet increasing demand among Olsen guests for more adventurous experiences and activities.

‘Godfather of Spanish Cooking’ brings a taste of Spain to Iona

José PizarroJosé Pizarro, the Spanish-born, UK-based chef is one of three new ‘local food heroes’ who are partnering with P&O Cruises to bring an authentic taste of the destinations visited by its newest ship Iona in 2020. 
Iona’s maiden winter season will be spent in Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands, where guests will be able to enjoy his culinary creations.
To bring local flavours into Iona’s dining experiences while in the Norwegian Fjords, celebrated Norwegian chef Kjartan Skjelde and photographer and home cook Marte Marie Forsberg have also been enlisted.

Ocean Medallion to launch on six more Princess Cruises ships in 2020

Princess Cruises is activating Ocean Medallion on six more of its ships in 2020 - Ruby Princess (27 January),  Grand Princess (29 March), Enchanted Princess (15 June), the ship’s launch date, Emerald Princess (16 August), Coral Princess (16 October) and Island Princess (20 December).

The Medallion’s wristband technology, above, makes it quicker and easier for guests to get on and off their ship, opens guests’ doors as they approach, and helps guests find and stay connected with friends and family onboard.
Overall, 11 Princess Cruises ships will be Ocean Medallion-activated by the end of 2020.

Wine gurus Oz Clarke, Will Lyons and Charles Metcalfe headline Queen Victoria’s vintage cruise

Oz ClarkeThree of wine’s biggest names are the headline speakers for the second annual Voyage Du Vin on Cunard’s Queen Victoria setting sail this September.
Oz Clarke, left, who is among the world’s foremost wine connoisseurs who led Britain’s wine revolution in the 1990s and 2000s, will be joined by award winning columnist and broadcaster Will Lyons and Charles Metcalfe, one of the best-known, most spontaneous and amusing wine critics in Britain.
Guests on the 14-night cruise, departing Southampton on 6 September, will experience daily wine tastings, pairings and fine dining, featuring more than 400 wines from 23 countries.
