A bacon shortage has forced Carnival Carnival Cruise Line to restrict guests from pigging themselves at breakfast on all of its ships.

The rashers will only be available at the Lido Buffet every other day, but the good news is that breakfast ham and sausages are still on the menu.

Revealing the culinary crisis in a Facebook video, the cruise line’s brand ambassador John Heald said the move, introduced this week, was not a cutback but a genuine problem.

“We purchase thousands of pieces of bacon every week, and the people that supply us and the cruise industry are having some challenges sourcing bacon for our ships at the moment,” he added.
