The Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany is shutting down for six weeks from today (20 July) due to the current global health crisis.

Meyer Werft is reportedly facing financial difficulties due to a lack of demand for new cruise ships and cruise lines delaying projects and delivery of new ships.
Shipyard owner Bernard Meyer has described the current situation as “precarious”.
