Sister ship to the award-winning SS Antoinette, the 443ft SS Catherine is one of the largest luxury ships in the award-winning Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection.
Offering 79 staterooms, five luxurious suites and one Royal Suite, the vessel ensures an intimate and comfortable atmosphere by preserving a maximum capacity of 159 guests and 57 staff members.
Spectacularly adorned to reflect her home along the Rhône and Saône rivers, the SS Catherine is inspired by French elegance and lavishly dressed in rich hues and colourful fabrics. Every feature shares the exquisite standards and meticulous attention to detail reflected throughout the entire Uniworld fleet, such as classic furnishings, old world antiques and the clever use of mirrors.
Original and inspiring hand-selected artwork graces the walls, including various pieces from the famous artists Jane du Rand and Rene Rutgers.
The rooms are individually decorated with rich fabrics, vibrant colours and unique furnishings. All suites and staterooms on the top deck offer full open-air private balconies which convert to enclosed conservatories with the touch of a button. Staterooms on the middle deck feature French balconies, and all suites and staterooms enjoy Uniworlds one-of-a-kind touches such as handcrafted Savoir of England beds and marble bathrooms.
In the lobby, with its green-and-white marble flooring and opulent brass railings, the centerpiece is a regal glass elevator with a whispering waterfall cascading down one side of the glass. The magnificent Murano chandelier was commissioned exclusively for the SS Catherine, from Arti Veneziane alla Giudecca (AVG) in Venice and immerses the room in a soft, romantic glow while highlighting an intricate mosaic of French hills, flowers and fauna.
The Van Gogh Lounge area is bathed in pastels with brass accents, French wrought-iron gates and hand-picked antique furniture. The Cézanne Restaurant features high-lacquered blue-green walls above vivid blue, green and white striped carpeting with blue velvet banquettes juxtaposing white Caesarstone marble and a myriad of spectacular paintings.
An al fresco terrace further enhances the dining experience as guests sail through the countryside, and a separate bistro restaurant offers a relaxed and cozy atmosphere.
The SS Catherine features a signature Bar du Leopard referencing the famous Leopard Lounges found in some Red Carnation Hotels, Uniworlds sister company. Its leopard-print furnishings, elephant-head bar rails, wood paneling and a spectacular jungle mosaic transport guests to yet another playful and exotic escape. The mosaic-tiled resistance pool and Serenity River Spa offer the perfect areas to relax.
