Viking today took delivery of its new flagship, Viking Venus, in a hand-over ceremony at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona, Italy.

The ship will now make her way to the UK to prepare for her official naming ceremony on 17 May and a programme of spring and summer cruises around the British Isles.

“Many of us have stayed close to home for months, so this is an especially important milestone as we begin to get back out into the world again,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking.

“We look forward to celebrating the naming of Viking Venus by her godmother, Anne Diamond, and to welcoming our UK guests back on board next month.”

After her christening in May Viking Venus will be cruising around the British Isles

Anne Diamond has been a key figure on Viking’s enrichment channel, Viking.TV, which first aired in March 2020.

Viking Venus joins identical sister ships in the Viking fleet, each with a gross tonnage of 47,800 tons, 465 staterooms and a 930-guest capacity.
