American Melody, the newest ship in American Cruise Lines’ revolutionary series of modern riverboats, is preparing to set sail on its sell-out 8-day maiden voyage along the giant Mississippi River.
ACL took delivery of the vessel from Chesapeake Shipbuilding on 4 August and at the same time announced that the names of the fifth and sixth modern riverboats, arriving next year, will be called American Symphony and American Serenade.
Following successful sea trials, Melody headed to New Orleans to make preparations for her departure on 27 August. She will be cruising the river alongside the authentic paddlewheeler, Queen of the Mississippi.
It will operate a selection of 8-day Mississippi itineraries until December, including a 22-Day Complete Mississippi River Cruise between New Orleans and St Paul, the State capital of Minnesota.
American first introduced their revolutionary series in 2018, with the groundbreaking American Song,
the first modern riverboat in the US. Since then the line has rapidly expanded the series, introducing six of these new ships in just four years.
American Melody accommodates 175-passengers in private-balcony staterooms and suites and features a four-storey sky-lit atrium, multiple indoor and outdoor lounges, fitness center, grand dining room, casual outdoor cafés and dramatic open-air Skywalks.
