American Melody launch

American Cruise Lines has successfully launched American Melody, the fourth of its acclaimed Modern Series of new riverboats.

She touched the water on 23 November at Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Maryland, and is on schedule for her inaugural Mississippi River cruise season in summer 2021.

Once complete, American Melody will have five decks and accommodate 175 guests in 91 large staterooms.

She will also highlight ACL’s new interior design while continuing to feature the architectural hallmarks of American’s innovative modern riverboats – showcasing a grand, multi-storey glass atrium at the center of the ship, 100 per cent private balcony accommodations and the unique opening bow and retractable gangway.

All American’s new modern riverboats have been designed with sweeping expanses of glass throughout to offer unparalleled panoramic views both inside and out.

American Melody will also include: a casual outdoor café as well as a signature Grand Dining Room with river views from every table; numerous spacious sky-lit lounges; several open-air and shaded sundecks; Library; Chart Room; Game Room; Fitness Room & Yoga-Wellness Studio; as well as elevator access to all decks.

American Melody is set to begin cruising the Mississippi River in summer 2021. American Jazz, the third in the Modern series, will debut in March, while a fifth is due in 2022.
