Pandaw orders new vessel to tackle 'final frontier' of Asia river travel

Pandaw, the luxury river specialists in Asia, have announced the construction of a brand-new ship to cruise through North Vietnam’s Red River and Halong Bay region. The RV Hanoi Pandaw, set to launch on 1 November 2026, will join the Angkor Pandaw, pictured, journeying through a rarely explored network of rivers and canals from the iconic limestone karsts of Halong Bay to rural villages, artisan workshops, and into the cultural heart of Hanoi. “North Vietnam is one of the last frontiers for river exploration in Asia,” says Pandaw sounder Paul Strachan. “The RV Hanoi Pandaw will allow us to deepen our connection with this region.”

Cruising was badly hit by the COVID pandemic but happily all of that is behind us, with the number of guests boarding ship soaring to record highs. And with so many new ships arriving, competition to fill them means there are many bargains to be found as long as you do your homework.
