A new eight-part TV series sharing a behind the scenes look at life onboard Holland America’s Rotterdam and Nieuw Statendam, pictured, kicks off tonight (3 July) on Channel 4.
Supercruising: Life at Sea on Channel 4 captures the experience on the two 2,700-guest Pinnacle-class ships over three voyages, sailing to destinations including the Panama Canal, the Caribbean, South America, Canary Islands and North Africa.
The line’s first homeport season from Dover in a decade is also highlighted.
The series reveals what it takes to operate a cruise ship around the clock. A variety of shore excursions also feature, as guests explore destinations across three continents.
Episode one introduces a variety of crew, including Rotterdam’s captain Eric Barhorst as he oversees operations on the ship’s Bridge while cruising the Caribbean and Panama Canal, and executive chef Jundiel Marcelo and his culinary team of 200, as they prepare to set sail on Nieuw Statendam from Dover.
The docuseries is narrated by actor Nick Brimble.
Supercruising: Life at Sea will broadcast at 8pm for eight consecutive Thursdays from 3 July and will also be available to stream on Channel4.com.
