Oriana guests were facing their own Black Friday today as they continued to digest the news that P&O Cruises had cancelled the ship’s 50-day New Year cruise because of the need for “essential maintenance”.
The ship was scheduled to leave Southampton on 6 January bound for the Caribbean, Mexico and US but instead will be in dry-dock for three weeks.

The question guests are now asking themselves is whether they want to switch to four similar cruises sailing to the Caribbean from Southampton early next year or accept a full refund. They have until 8 December to decide.
Oriana will continue to sail right up until January 6, returning to duty on 25 February with as cruise to the Norwegian fjords.
News of the cancellation came in a P&O Cruises tweet which stated: “We apologise to guests due to travel on Oriana’s X801 but our technical team has advised us that it’s necessary for Oriana to undergo a 3 week technical maintenance from Jan 6, 2018.
“As a result we will be cancelling this cruise. We have contacted all those affected guests and we are extremely sorry for the late notice and disruption.”
