American Liberty, the third new Coastal Cat in American Cruise Lines’ groundbreaking series of 100-passenger Eagle-class ships, has been christened in Newport, Rhode Island.
The celebration took place at Fort Adams State Park, where all American’s small ships dock when visiting Newport.
Musical trio The Victory Belles entertained guests with patriotic music as everyone gathered on the ship’s top deck for the official blessing and ceremonial bottle smash performed by Clare Harington, pictured above, American Liberty’s Godmother and Vice Commodore of the New York Yacht Club.
American Liberty, the third of 12 new coastal cats and sister to American Eagle and American Glory which arrived in 2023, was visiting the historic seaside town along its inaugural cruise with guests, sailing on the popular New England Islands cruise, roundtrip from Providence.
The ship will continue operating the New England cruises before switching to East Coast itineraries along the Hudson River New York and then between Charleston, South Carolina, and Amelia Island, Florida, from November through spring 2025.
