Costa Cruises took delivery of its newest ship, Costa Toscana, at Meyer’s Turku shipyard in Finland on Thursday (2 December), but guests will have to wait until March to set sail on her.
Powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the ship boasts the maritime sector’s most advanced technology for reducing emissions.
The Costa Group – which includes the Costa Cruises and AIDA Cruises brands – was the first in the world to pioneer liquefied natural gas on cruise ships to improve their environmental performance.
Costa Toscana’s first cruise will depart from the Italian port of Savona on 5 March with a week-long itinerary visiting Marseille, Barcelona, Valencia, Palermo and Civitavecchia/Rome.
Following her debut, the new flagship will remain in the Western Mediterranean for the rest of the year.
