2018 makeover brings innovative ship bang up to date

The 113,000-ton Crown Princess introduced a number of new design innovations to the Princess fleet in May, 2006, including a dramatic new piazza-style atrium, new casual dining venues, and a brand new adults-only retreat called The Sanctuary.

Within the new street cafe environment of the atrium, passengers discover an International Cafe serving up fresh pastries and baked goods in the morning and assorted other offerings throughout the day, as well as a wine and seafood bar.

Several signature Princess venues were further enhanced, including an expanded Sabatini’s Italian trattoria with a new piano lounge, and the Crown Grill, a new steak and seafood restaurant with an open, theater-style kitchen where chefs will custom-prepare steamed shellfish and cooked-to-order steaks and chops.

The ship also features the many hallmark features that define the Princess experience, including the dramatic Movies Under the Stars poolside movie screen, multiple dining and entertainment options, a Lotus Spa fitness center, an extensive children and teen center and a wedding chapel.

Following a two-week refit in 2018, Crown Princess emerged sporting a new look, with the company’s signature logo, and the following enhancements

• A luxury bed in every room. The bed was created exclusively for Princess Cruises and includes fine linens, enhanced mattress support and a king-size deluxe pillow available with feathers or anti-allergy microfibre.
• Top-deck outdoor dining venues enhanced and renamed:
  :: The Salty Dog Grill (formerly Trident Grill) serving burgers, hot dogs and tacos
  :: Slice (formerly Prego Pizzeria) serving Neapolitan-style pizza and many new items
  :: Coffee & Cones (formerly Sundaes Ice Cream Bar) offering gourmet ice-cream sandwiches, complimentary ice cream cones and speciality coffees
  :: The Mix (formerly Mermaid’s Tale) poolside bar
• The onboard gym and spa have received modernised equipment and upgraded salon and treatments rooms
• ‘Club class’ mini-suites, a new premium stateroom category, have been introduced. Club class includes a reserved dining area with expanded menu options in one of the main onboard restaurants, upgraded room amenities and priority embarkation and disembarkation
• The introduction of new children’s centre activities in association with the Discovery Channel
• A greater retail choice including a new fine jewellery shop, Effy
• New carpet, light fixtures and bar TV screens in the casino
• The line’s signature logo on the ship’s bow
