Paul Gauguin

Elegant Polynesian signature newly enhanced with a chic and fresh style to enrich the guest experience

The Paul Gauguin was designed specifically to sail the shallow seas of Tahiti and French Polynesia, visiting small ports that larger ships can’t reach.

She offers an extension of the informal, relaxing environment of the islands, coupled with five-star service, comfort and luxury.

Spacious suites and staterooms, 70 per cent with balcony, an onboard watersports marina, a choice of three open-seating dining venues and an extensive spa are among her luxurious attributes.

The atmosphere aboard ship radiates warmth, informality, and Polynesian flair. And Les Gauguines and Les Gauguins – a local Tahitian group who serve as cruise staff, entertainers and storytellers – add the unique personality of Tahiti to every cruise.

The Paul Gauguin was built at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France, and has undergone major enhancements since its inaugural sailing in 1998, the most recent being a total upgrade in 2021.

In a collaboration with the Jean-Philippe Nuel Studio, the new interior design evokes the elegance and ambiance of the South Sea and South Pacific islands.

The vision of the renovation was to enhance ship’s elegant Polynesian signature with a chic and fresh style to enrich the guest experience.

All staterooms, suites and public areas have been tastefully renovated to bring out the warmth of the wood panelling, a strong symbol of the local identity.

Combined with hints of lagoon, a range of green and natural tones enlivened with vivid touches of colour, plant motifs and woven fabrics, the overall effect is wholly in keeping with the destination.

Dining experiences include L’Etoile, which showcases an array of culinary creations expertly prepared each evening. The ship’s other two dining venues, La Veranda and Le Grill, serve breakfast and lunch. At night, signature dishes designed by French celebrity chef Jean-Pierre Vigato are offered in La Veranda, and Polynesian specialties are served poolside at Le Grill.

Expert lecturers feature on each voyage along with special guests on select sailings conducting presentations on topics ranging from the history of the South Pacific to conservation, culture, marine life, and the wonders of coral reefs.

A luxurious spa, fitness centre, water sports marina and expansive outdoor decks with chaise lounges and a pool are also available onboard.
