6-star Ice Queen of the Silversea fleet
Silver Cloud, which launched the world of Silversea cruising in April 1994, became the first ice queen of the fleet in 2017.
Epitomising everything that is Silversea, the Cloud has travelled to all corners of the world while introducing her guests to a six-star level of luxury.
But following a $40m two-month makeover, she has emerged as arguably the most luxurious expedition ship at sea.
The conversion into an ice-class expedition vessel meant that, from 15 November, 2017, guests could cruise Antarctica in six-star comfort.
A guest capacity of 254 in non-polar regions and just 200 in polar regions means guests enjoy the highest levels of personalised and attentive service on board. The limited capacity in polar regions also means that all guests can disembark at the same time to explore each region.
The ship carries 16 zodiacs in addition to 10 kayaks which have been installed to allow guests to experience kayak polar exploration.
Voyages are led by a team of 20 expedition experts in non-polar regions and 22 in polar regions to enhance guests knowledge and experience from their voyage.
Daily presentations and lectures by experts in the state-of-the-art theatre are also streamed live to all suites.
Silver Cloud guests now benefit from a newly installed Photo Studio which enables content editing onboard. The Photo Studio is an inspiring space where guests can master the art of digital photography. With several masterclasses on offer, a dedicated photo manager and an editing suite, guests can perfectly capture their expedition voyage and print images on board.
The bulbous bow has been replaced with a reinforced ice-class bulb to allow for navigation of polar waters; new sonars have been installed for underwater detection and new windows resistant to polar temperatures have been installed to ensure comfortable temperatures inside the vessel for guests.
The successful transformation of Silver Cloud into an expedition vessel following the exhaustive work by Palumbo Shipyards is another milestone for Silversea, said Silversea CEO, Roberto Martinoli.
Silver Cloud was the first vessel in the Silversea classic fleet in 1994 and it is with great pride that we now welcome her to our expedition fleet.
Guests can enjoy the Zàgara Beauty Spa which was first introduced on Silverseas flagship, Silver Muse. Zàgara melds its beautiful Italian heritage with a 360 mind and body philosophy to evoke awareness and nurture wellbeing.
Further, Silver Clouds boutique has been reworked to offer merchandise aligned with an expedition vessel with dedicated essential gear selections.
