Marella Celebration has become a casualty of the Coronavirus pandemic and is being retired a year ahead of schedule.
TUI, parent company of ship operator Marella Cruises, said the 1,250-passenger ship, built in 1984, had become “one of the longest standing and most loved ships in the fleet”.
The ship, formerly Celebration and Noordam, had sailed with the cruise line, formerly Thomson Cruises, for 15 years.
Marella Celebration was scheduled to sail out of Dubrovnik in summer 2020 and 2021, wintering in Cyprus and Dubai.
