Emerald Waterways is introducing a new chartered river-ship to its portfolio, the recently refurbished MS Nizhny Novgorod, built to sail Russia’s waterways including Europe’s longest river, the Volga River.
Featuring two itineraries, the Russian programme onboard the MS Nizhny Novgorod begins sailing in May 2021.
The 11-day Imperial Charms of Russia cruise allows guests to discover both traditional villages and vibrant cities as they sail from the UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of St Petersburg to Moscow.
Highlights include a guided tour of of St Petersburg, a Shashlik lunch in the picturesque village of Mandrogi, a visit to the Monastery of St Cyril on the White Lake, and a guided tour of Moscow – exploring the Kremlin Grounds.
New for 2021, guests can choose the reverse 12-day itinerary for an extra day in St Petersburg at the end which allows guests to visit Peterhof and see its jaw-dropping collection of gilded fountains, state-lined lanes and picturesque canals that make up the Lower Peterhof.

Prices for the 11-day itinerary start from £2,195 per person (based on the 11 September departure), calling at St Petersburg, Mandrogi, Kizhi, Goritsy, Yaroslavl, Uglich and Moscow. Guests booking before 31 August 2020 will save £1,000 per couple across all departure dates.
Prices include return flights transfers, 10-nights on board, all on board meals and selected drinks, tipping and gratuities, shore excursions and exclusive events and experiences.
The ship offers a wide selection of on-board amenities including the Volga restaurant servicing Russian-influenced dining, as well as the Panorama Bar with stunning views of the passing scenery.
Guests have the choice of three cabin styles comprising suite, double deluxe and twin cabin. All are equipped with large windows.
