Royal Caribbean’s new Utopia of the Seas was given her first taste of water this week … 46 million gallons of it to be exact.
The game-changing ship is now one step closer to its debut in Florida in July next year following her float-out at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France.
It has taken a remarkable 17 months to reach this stage in the construction which itself took nearly 15 hours as the dry dock was flooded with and ocean of water.
Utopia was then moved into an outfitting dock where it will begin to come to life as highly anticipated features are installed, including the longest dry slide at sea – the 295-foot-long Ultimate Abyss – and a first-of-its-kind immersive train car dining experience.
