PONANT Winter 2019-2020 programme features new ships and exciting new destinations

PONANT’s Winter 2019-2020 programme features 114 departures, ranging from yacht cruises to polar and tropical expeditions, including 23 brand-new itineraries.

New destinations include the Yucatán, bathing in the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, and visits to Mayan sites now listed as World Heritage by UnescoThe treasures of the Red Sea from Egypt to Jordan aboard the three-masted Le Ponant Discovery of the aptly named “Vanilla Islands”, or the Bissagos Islands, one of Earth’s last remaining unspoiled locations

PONANT once again shines a spotlight on Antarctica in 2019-20

For this new season, Le Bougainville and Le Dumont-d’Urville, the latest additions to the PONANT Explorers series, will have joined the fleet, bringing the cruise line’s total of ships to nine.

With 23 departures over the season, PONANT once again shines a spotlight on Antarctica. Guests will be able to spend Christmas or New Year’s Day surrounded by the magic of icy landscapes or to discover the exceptional wildlife in these remote lands under the supervision of a team of experienced naturalist-guides.

PONANT takes its passengers as close as possible to pristine nature in the most comfortable conditions and with the utmost respect for the environment.

The line is joining forces with National Geographic, the creator of high-end travel experiences, to offer brand-new expedition cruises to Antarctica, Oceania, Latin America and the Caribbean, starting in 2019.

Combining unique itineraries in the most remote parts of the world and the on-board presence of National Geographic Expeditions experts, notably photographers, this programme of expedition cruises offers 12 itineraries for the season, promising a high-quality immersive experience.

New itineraries

Maya Treasure of the Yucatán
A cruise to discover the Yucatán Peninsula and the secrets of the pre-Columbian civilisations, including visits to sites such as Uxmal, Palenque and Chichen Itza. Also on the programme: an exceptional architectural heritage from the colonial period, and visits to Merida and some cacao plantations for an unforgettable experience.
From Puerto Morelos to Puerto Morelos (Cancùn) on Le Champlain.
7 departures between November 2019 and January 2020, from £2,310

The Antarctic Odyssey
21 days in Antarctica for an extraordinary, all new polar adventure with National Geographic. Discovering the Antarctic Peninsula will be the highlight of an epic adventure that will take PONANT guests to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the Orkney Islands, then on to Ushuaia via the mythical Drake Passage.
Passengers could have the chance to observe Gentoo, Adelie and chinstrap penguins, humpback whales, seals and seabirds, if weather conditions allow it.
From Montevideo to Ushuaia (Ushuaia/Buenos Aires flight included) on Le Lyrial, departing on 19 November 2019, from £14,100.

Adventure in Orinoco
Le Dumont-d’Urville will be taking its passengers on an all new expedition cruise. Explore the idyllic beaches of the Caribbean islands during scuba-dives, then head towards the Venezuelan coast and sail along the meanders of a major South American river, the Orinoco, to discover its rich, endemic wildlife and experience encounters with the Warao people.
From Fort-de-France to Fort-de-France aboard Le Dumont-d’Urville.
Two departures in November 2019, from £4,330
