The Independence, left, is currently spearheading American Cruise Lines’ return to the waters with the company’s first sailing since the Covid pandemic brought cruising to a standstill.
The 114-passenger coastal vessel’s eight-day Historic South & Golden Isles itinerary from Jacksonville, Florida, to Charleston set sail on Saturday (13 March).
The line’s next sailing, from New Orleans to Memphis along the Lower Mississippi River, will depart on 21 March on the brand new American Jazz, below.
American Cruise Lines is the largest US flagged small ship cruise line in the country and only visits domestic ports of call .
All of its initial 2021 cruises will be sailing voluntarily thee-quarter capacity and with strict COVID-19 protocols in place.
