Celebrity Apex has finally been christened in Ft Lauderdale’s Port Everglades ahead of her inaugural Caribbean season which kicked off on Tuesday (2 November).
The ship’s official naming ceremony was led by her godmother, the lawyer, politician and civil servant Reshma Saujani.
Celebrity Cruises president Lisa Lutoff-Perlo said: “Celebrating Celebrity Apex is certainly long overdue and it’s a day I have been waiting to celebrate for quite a long time – 581 days, to be exact.”
The first piece of steel was cut for Celebrity Apex at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France in July 20128 and the christening was originally scheduled to take place in Southampton in April last year as ther pandemic struck..
