Balmoral all set for second cruise season from Newcastle

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines’ flagship Balmoral begins her second cruise season from Newcastle this week, with a sell-out five-night Norwegian Fjords setting sail on Thursday (25 May).

The 1,350-guest Balmoral will be embarking on 13 voyages from the Port of Tyne through to September – two more than last year – giving holidaymakers in the North East the choice of a host of exciting and exotic destinations, including Norway, Iceland, Spain, Germany and the Baltic.

Balmoral will set sail on 13 cruises from Newcastle this summer

Says Clare Ward, Director of Customer Services for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines: “Fred. Olsen has more than 100 years of heritage in running passenger services from the Port of Tyne, and has been operating regular cruise calls from Newcastle since 2006. Since then, Fred. Olsen has seen bookings departing from the Port of Tyne soar, with our Norwegian Fjords cruises selling out in record time.

“The Port of Tyne is ideally placed for our ever-popular Norway, Scandinavian and Baltic itineraries, and we can save up to three days’ cruising time sailing from Newcastle to Norway than from Southern ports.”

Balmoral’s ex-Newcastle sailings in 2017 include:

  • 15-night Authentic Andalusia cruise, departing 1 July . From £999 per person. Ports of call: Newcastle – Cádiz, Spain – Malaga, Spain (overnight stay) – Almería, Spain – Gibraltar – Lisbon, Portugal – Vigo, Spain – La Coruňa, Spain – Newcastle
  • Eight-night From the Highlands of Scotland to the Lizard Peninsula cruise, departing 6 August. From £699 per person. Ports of call: Newcastle – Oban, Scotland – Cruising by Duart Castle – Cruising Firth of Lorn – Belfast, Northern Ireland – Dublin, Ireland – Falmouth, England – Portland, England – Newcastle
  • 11-night Scandinavian Waterways & Capitals cruise, departing 17 September. From £999 per person. Ports of call: Newcastle – Copenhagen, Denmark (overnight stay) – Cruising Stockholm Archipelago – Stockholm, Sweden (overnight stay) – Cruising Stockholm Archipelago – Cruising Oslofjord – Oslo, Norway (overnight stay) – Newcastle

All prices are based on two adults sharing a twin-bedded interior room.
