Le Commandant-Charcot
Follow in the footsteps of the great polar explorers in discreet luxury
Ponant’s ground-breaking new polar expedition vessel, arriving in March 2021, bears the name Le Commandant Charcot in recognition of the early 20th century explorer Captain Jean-Baptiste Charcot, who crossed the Arctic Circle and travelled to the Arctic for the first time in 1902.
The world’s first hybrid-electric polar exploration ship powered by LNG will follow in the footsteps of the great polar explorers in refined surroundings complete with the kind of luxury services never before offered in the farthest reaches of the southern and northern hemispheres.
Indoor swimming pool, conservatory, panoramic restaurant, Blue Lagoon outdoor restaurant, Main Lounge, Observation Lounge, lobby … all areas have been designed to both convey French-style discreet luxury and arouse wonder and amazement.
It has also designed with the greatest attention to detail in terms of safety and respect for the environment.
