Le Soléal

Luxury, authenticity and passion combine to deliver unique cruise experiences

On board Le Soléal, which set sail in July 2013, guests will find all the familiar and state-of the art facilities that have made sister ships L’Austral and Le Boréal such a success, and which are at the heart of “Yacht cruising”.

Luxury, authenticity and passion are key ingredients in delivering unique experiences.

Le Soléal’s small size, sleek design and advanced technology allow her to get as close as possible to the shore, granting unrivalled access to protected sites while offering first rate comfort, elegance and five-star service.

The ship often sails in the polar regions, so Du Ponant wanted to create a warm atmosphere with her interior design. The materials used combine noblesse and harmony, enhanced by velvets, wools, silks, and a contrast between shiny and matt finishes and associations of metal, wood and glass.

Fluid lines, a gentle colour palette, drawing on natural wood, grey and shades of whites create a unique atmosphere that is both clean and welcoming, thanks to a judicious choice of materials and discreet and subtly updated references to the nautical theme.

The central, transversal sculpture created by marie-Andrée Côté, is made from enamelled pieces
and was directly inspired by the sea. in the lounge bar, the carpet picks up the tennis stripes theme with a chic seaside spirit.

In the cabins and suites, the chests of drawers and wardrobes are quilted in overstitched leather while the handles evoke steamer trunks. Lastly, a variety of objects, vases, shells and other items placed here and there complete this harmonious decor and bring a personal touch.

Jean-Philippe Nuel usually works on hotel projects and here has had to work around the specificities of a ship. “A major constraint was the safety requirements but also the way we manage the space. We have rounded all the angles, let in as much light as possible, opened up views to the sea. For example, in the cabins, a sliding door separates the bedroom from the bathroom.”

Equipped with the latest technology, Le Soléal is very quiet and stable – an essential requirement for a ship designed to sail in extreme conditions. She is also environmentally friendly and has been awarded the Cleanship certificate as well as the “comfort 1” rating by bureau Veritas.
