British passengers who have been holed-up on Diamond Princess in Japan since 3 February will be heading for home tomorrow.
The Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, announced today that the evacuation flight for the 74 Britons caught up in the coronavirus outbreak would take off from Tokyo.
And he urged other British nationals still seeking to leave Japan to call the British Embassy in Tokyo on +81 3 5211 1100
It is understood that only people showing no signs of illness will be able join the flight, and that they will be quarantined on their return to the UK.
Raab said: “We’ve organised an evacuation flight for British nationals on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship to depart Tokyo on Friday.
“Details have been sent to those who have registered for the flight. We urge other British nationals still seeking to leave to contact us.
“We will continue to support British nationals who wish to stay in Japan.”
