Master Blaster! Navigator of the Seas to claim title of world’s longest oceangoing waterslide … by 35ft

Royal Caribbean's Blaster waterslide

The Blaster, a record-breaking 800ft aqua-coaster, is just one of an extraordinary innovations planned in the imminent $115m makeover of Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas.

It will propel a two-person raft through hills, drops and straightaways, including a section that hangs out over the side of the ship.

The slide will be the longest on the ocean, pipping Disney’s Aqua Duck by 35ft.

When she emerges from her makeover on 24 February, Navigator will also feature the cruise industry’s first mat racer, Riptide, which will plunge riders headfirst down another waterslide, ending with an exhilarating home stretch through a translucent tube hanging over the ocean.

“Each Royal Caribbean ship brings a new adventure uniquely designed to deliver on our guests’ preferences from A to Z,” said Michael Bayley, president of Royal Caribbean International.

“Every detail matters and we’ve mapped out an unmatched combination of innovative features and experiences for this top-to-bottom transformation of Navigator of the Seas.”

The makeover also includes:

  • To Dry For, the first standalone blow dry bar at sea
  • Planet Z glow in the dark laser tag
  • The Observatorium, Royal Caribbean’s escape room
  • The Lime and Coconut two-level signature cocktail bar
  • Tasty Mexican street food at El Loco Fresh
  • The Bamboo Room, the cruise line’s Polynesian-themed watering hole

Navigator will be the first in the Royal Caribbean fleet to visit Perfect Day at CocoCay, the debut destination in the cruise line’s recently announced private island collection, opening in May.
