Scenic, the luxury cruise and tour operator, has been forced to push back the launch date of its first cruise ship, Scenic Eclipse, by a further three weeks as problems continue to beset its construction.
Originally set to arrive in August this year, a wide range of issues at the Uljank shipyard in Croatia have meant delaying the launch until January, then to 22 March, and the line has now announced that the date has been been pushed back to 13 April.

Scenic said in a statement today that continuing financial issues at the shipyard and the resultant strike by specialist engine and systems commissioning workers had caused the latest setback.
The statement added: ““Scenic has been in constant contact with the shipyard, workers representatives and the Government to ensure the completion of the ship as soon as possible.
“Due to those efforts, more than 600 workers are still on board each weekday. The progress on the ship’s interiors and other areas of the final build stage have seen far less impact from the industrial action, and continue to progress at good pace.”
Scenic said it would fully refund guests the cost of their Scenic Eclipse cruise and give those who rebook a 25 per cent discount. A dedicated phone number, 0161 234 2865, has been set up for affected guests.
