Marella Cruises

Jeep safaris. Volcanic adventures. Tree-top tours. Marella Cruises offers up plenty in the way of excitement

The rebranding of Thomson Cruises to Marella Cruises in October 2017 saw the UK’s third largest cruise line head for new horizons.

Those choosing a Marella Cruises holiday can take advantage of flights on their doorstep across 22 regional UK airports, as well as a wide Cruise & Stay programme that combines a cruise holiday with a stay at one of more than 140 hotels across 10 destinations worldwide, including the luxurious TUI Sensatori collection.

All of the extras that customers have grown to know with a Thomson Cruises holiday are still offered with Marella Cruises, such as tips and service charges included in the price. All inclusive is as standard on Marella Explorer, Explorer 2, Marella Discovery and Discovery 2.

Cruises set sail at night meaning fewer days spent at sea and more time spent ashore. Thomson Cruises’ staff and crew will also still be a big part of the holiday experience, ensuring passengers receive the warmest of welcomes and the friendliest service at sea throughout their time onboard.

Marella Explorer, formerly Mein Schiff 1, began sailing for Marella in summer 2018 and Marella Explorer 2, formerly Celebrity Century, joined the fleet in 2019. The fifth ship in the fleet is the veteran Marella Dream.

Jeep safaris … volcanic adventures … tree-top tours. The places Marella ships go to offer up plenty in the way of excitement.

But when you’re on holiday you want time to chill out, too. So you can devote your day to lazing by the pool, listening to music and sipping cocktails. Find a quiet spot in one of the lounges, where you can read with no interruptions. Or hit the spa for a massage, manicure or facial. It’s the perfect way to recharge your batteries before diving headlong into your next port…

Stay in the best accommodation and not only do you get extras like a separate seating area and more space, you get priority check-in onboard the ship, your luggage delivered first and an exclusive concierge service.

On all Marella ships, there’s a a variety of dining options. Help yourself to something from the buffet or head for the restaurant where waiters will look after you. And you’re not confined to set meal times either – you can grab a pre-lunch slice of pizza out on deck or take afternoon tea in the lounge. In fact, you can get a bite to eat round the clock.

There’s never a dull moment. The Sail Away deck party gives you an idea of what you can expect. By day you’ve got everything from sports and competitions to plays and lectures. Come sundown it’s all West End-style shows, cabaret and comedy from UK guest acts. Quieter nights involve picking a cosy spot in the bar, listening to the sounds of a classical duo or throwing down a chip or two in the casino.
