Celebrity Expedition Cruises
For 20 years Celebrity has been offering specialised cruises around the celebrated Galápagos Islands. But is only in the last few years that things have been getting more serious.
Celebrity launched itself into the expedition cruising as early as 2001 with the acquisition of the small boutique ship, Celebrity Xpedition.
But it was not until 2016 that Celebrity started to expand its interest in the Pacific archipelago marine reserve.
In March that year, Celebrity Cruises announced the acquisition of Galápagos Islands tour operator Ocean Adventures and its two ships, the 48-guest M/V Eclipse (now Celebrity Xperience) and the 16-guest catamaran M/C Athala II (now Celebrity Xploration).
The move expanded Celebrity’s guest capacity in the Galápagos by 65 per cent.
And the arrival in June 2019 of the state-of-the-art newbuild Celebrity Flora boosted Celebrity’s presence even further, providing the largest and arguably the most luxurious accommodations in the region.
