Discover the most modern fleet in the world … with the greenest credentials on the High Seas

Cruise lines are making every effort to ensure their new ships are environmentally friendly, none more so than MSC Cruises with its new greener-than-green Seaside-EVO and Meraviglia-plus class ships.

And now the MSC World Europa is blazing the latest trail for MSC with even greener credentials. Her sister, MSC World America, arrives in 2025.

MSC Grandiosa led the way in November 2019 as the new flagship, stacked to the brim with the new technologies designed to help protect our planet.

She was the first of three of the new Meraviglia-plus class of ships in a fleet of 19 of the most modern ships at sea, with her sister MSC Virtuosa delivered in February 2021 followed by the first Seaside-EVO class ship, MSC Seashore, in August the same year.

MSC Cruises continues to grow and diversify, with the announcement in October, 2018, of a move into the ultra-luxury market with a £1.75bn order for four 64,000-ton ships, arriving between 2023 and 2026.

The MSC cruise experience embodies the creation of unique and unforgettable emotions for guests, through discovery of the world’s cultures, beauties and tastes.

MSC World Europa became the flagship of the fleet in December 2022

Its seasonal itineraries cover northern Europe, the Atlantic Ocean, Cuba and the French Antilles, South America, southern Africa, China and Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sir Bani Yas. Southampton is the base for all MSC Cruises’ ex-UK sailings.

As well as operating a wealth of different of itineraries, MSC Cruises also offers a variety of cruising options. Families are well provided for, with a “kids cruise free” policy operating all year round.

And for those looking for a luxury cruise experience, the MSC Yacht Club delivers a brand of exclusive, high-end cruising.

In 2014, MSC Cruises launched an investment plan to support a burgeoning expansion programme which kicked off with the order of two ships of the Meraviglia generation and two others of the Seaside generation (plus an option for a third). Then, in February 2016, it confirmed a further two Meraviglia-plus ships with an even greater capacity.

In April 2016 the investment rose to €9bn with the announcement of a further four ships, each with next-generation LNG propulsion technology.

MSC Cruises is the first global cruise line brand to develop an investment plan of this length and magnitude, spanning an horizon of over ten years, from 2014 through 2027. Its original investment programme started in 2003 with the arrival of MSC Lirica.

At 171,000 tons, MSC Meraviglia (2017), became the largest ship ever built by a European based cruise company, followed by MSC Seaside and MSC Seaview. Sister ship MSC Bellissima arrived  2019, followed in October by its first Meraviglia-Plus Class ship, MSC Grandiosa.

The four Fantasia class flagships – MSC Preziosa (2013), MSC Divina (2012), MSC Splendida (2009) and MSC Fantasia (2008) – weighed in at 140,000 tonnes.

Complementing them are the four 90,000-ton vessels in the Musica Class – MSC Magnifica (2010), MSC Poesia (2008), MSC Orchestra (2007) and MSC Musica (2006) – each carrying just under 3,000 travellers each.

The fleet is completed by the 58,000-ton Lirica Class – MSC Sinfonia (2005), MSC Armonia (2004), MSC Opera (2004) and MSC Lirica (2003) – each carrying over 2,000 guests.

Definitely a more European feel, so maybe not suitable for American families with young kids. The food was wonderful with a buffet running most of the day and several dining rooms.
